Privacy Trees
Privacy trees are exactly that—trees that offer privacy! Because of their height and dense foliage, these evergreens succeed in forming natural sound, wind, and sight barriers around outdoor areas. Opting for a privacy hedge is the economic and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fencing.

Sometimes we just need privacy, especially in our yards. Not interested inexpensive fencing that needs yearly maintenance? Consider adding a ‘live’ wall to your yard with privacy trees, screening trees, and buffer trees.
Trees can create a beautiful and natural screen full of blooms and foliage that are eye-catching instead of being an eyesore. From White Pine to fast-growing Leyland Cypress and Nellie Stevens Holly to stunning Emerald Green Arborvitae and Thuja Green Giant, we have the privacy trees that are perfect for your landscape.
Create a privacy screen that will bring beauty to your yard year after year while giving you the privacy buffer from your neighbors that you crave!
Here are a few of our favorite privacy trees:

Leyland Cypress
If you’re looking to create a lush privacy screen sooner rather than later, consider the Leyland Cypress—Cupressocyparis leylandii. This fast growing conifer reaches up to 60 feet tall and offers bright green foliage to accentuate and form a barrier around any garden area. The leyland cypress prefers full sun, but will thrive in any soil condition.
Grow Zone: 5-9
Emerald Green Arborvitae
Emerald Green Arborvitae—Thuja occidentalis—is a popular choice when creating a privacy screen. Its rich, emerald-green foliage makes this tree both pleasing and practical. Growing to be about 16 feet tall, this tree, like the Baby Blue Spruce, is a shorter option. While you can plant Emerald Green Arborvitaes in hotter areas, they do need a regular watering schedule and full sun to thrive.
Grow Zone: 3-7

Thuja Green Giant
As its name suggests, the Thuja Green Giant—Thuja plicata x standishii—is a large presence in any landscape. This fast growing tree can reach heights of 60 feet tall and is even deer resistant! As it grows, this tree can be trimmed for a more compact, clean look. Thuja Green Giants prefer full sun and do well in any kind of soil.
Grow Zone 5-8
Baby Blue Spruce
Baby Blue Spruce—Picea pungens—has a unique metallic blue coloring that only gets better with time. As a smaller option, this slow growing tree reaches about 25 feet tall when mature. While it is on the shorter side, it makes for a great addition to smaller garden areas. The Baby Blue Spruce prefers partial sun and well drained soil.
Grow zone 3-8

Eastern White Pine
The Eastern White pine—Pinus strobus—is specifically known for its ability to block strong winds. Because the Eastern White Pine reaches 50-60 feet tall, it’s best suited for larger, open areas as opposed to small gardens. While this tree is fast growing, it does do best in partial shade.
Grow Zone 3-8
Arborvitae Forever Goldy
With foliage that looks like it was dipped in gold, Arborvitae Forever Goldy—Thuja plicata—earned its name for its long lasting color. As opposed to other privacy trees, this one is drought tolerant and prefers humid climates. Arborvitae Forever Goldy grows to be about 12 feet tall and prefers full sun and well-drained soil.
Grow Zone 4-7
