Digital Marketing Specialist / Social Media Coordinator

Title: Digital Marketing Specialist

Reports to:  General Managing Committee, Assistant General Manager

Patuxent Nursery is currently seeking a Digital Content Specialist.

This position works closely with communications and marketing team members in the planning and execution of marketing plans. The position stays up-to-date on digital platforms, social media channels, and trends to inform strategies and tactics. While the core of the position is rooted in the company’s marketing efforts, it is likely that the responsibilities will spread into sales, customer service, and occasionally inventory management. We need someone who is flexible enough to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing content for the web, social media advertising, and other digital platforms. The candidate must be a creative designer and writer, know how to manage content on the company’s Shopify and WordPress websites, and paid social media platforms, and understand how to leverage photo/video assets for digital media.

The candidate should be proficient with photo and video editing programs to optimize assets for web and social media. This position requires an individual to work closely with other team members to develop a content calendar for web and social media channels and manage and refresh the content on the web, social media, and other digital platforms.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Publish weekly specials digitally in a timely and engaging way,            
  • Record and respond to customer reviews,
  • Manage Patuxent Nursery social media,
  • Write and manage Google Ads,
  • Maintain website content,
  • Writing copy for plant care guides, E-Zines, email campaigns, informational pamphlets, and any other marketing materials needed by Patuxent Nursery,
  • Performing other tasks as required and at the direction of the General Managing Committee.

Basic Work Schedule:

  • Full Time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year

Work Location: On-site. This is not a remote position.


Cashier

Title: Cashier

Reports to:  Customer Service Manager, Manager on Duty

Responsible for:

  • Providing a high level of customer service and accuracy in sales transactions                                   
  • Greeting customers and handles all aspects of cash, charge, check, and invoice sales transactions
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy in data entry, mathematical, and financial transactions
  • Maintaining proper levels of supplies and change to enable sales transactions
  • Assist in loading of customer purchases into their vehicles as appropriate
  • Printing closing reports and settles the cash drawer at the end of the day
  • Answering phone according to established company policy
  • Assisting in all phases of customer service as needed
  • Performing other tasks as required and at the direction of the Customer Service Manager or Manager on Duty

Basic Work Schedule:

  • Part-time (15-30 hours per week)
  • Full time (30-40+ hours per week)
  • Up to 40 hours during non-peak periods
  • As needed during peak season

*Hours are dictated based on employee availability. The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends is highly desirable

Customer Service Representative

Title: Customer Service Representative

Reports to: Customer Service Manager, Manager On Duty

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that customer needs are fulfilled and that they experience a satisfying shopping experience
  • Greet customers and handle all aspects of cash, charge, check, and invoice sales transactions
  • Handle all return transactions and Planting Service sales
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in data entry, mathematical, and financial transactions
  • Maintain proper levels of supplies and change to enable sales transactions
  • Assist in loading of customer purchases into their vehicles as appropriate
  • Print closing reports and settles the cash drawer at the end of the day
  • Answer phones according to established company policy
  • Assist in all phases of customer service as needed
  • Perform other tasks as required and at the direction of the Customer Service Manager or Manager on Duty
  • Perform data entry on new customers, as well as other clerical tasks as needed
  • Follow up on customer inquiries via email and voicemail
  • Resolve customer issues in such a way that the customer is satisfied and retained

Basic Work Schedule:

  • Part-time (15-30 hours per week)
  • Full time (30-40+ hours per week)

Sales Associates

Title: Salesperson

Reports to: Manager of the department, Manager on Duty

Responsible for: Customer service to all customers shopping at Patuxent Nursery

  • Greeting and assisting all customers in the assigned sales area
  • Answering questions customers have about their purchases
  • Coordinating loading of material for customers into their vehicles
  • Writing sales tickets or communicating customer purchases directly to a cashier
  • Maintaining the appearance of assigned sales area by restocking or reblocking material as needed
  • Unloading trucks of new material as needed and directed by an area manager
  • Must be able to work outside in varying types of weather
  • Some departments may require heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
