Brand:

Winter Survival Fall Lawn Fertilizer is formulated to help lawns recover from the stress and damage of summer while preparing grass for the colder months ahead. Its 10-0-20 fertilizer analysis provides nitrogen to support healthy green growth and potassium to encourage deeper rooting and help the lawn better withstand winter stress. It can be used on all types of grass and is especially useful as part of a fall lawn-care program.

The fall is an important time to strengthen the lawn before winter arrives. This fertilizer provides a gentle feeding that helps established lawns develop thicker, greener growth while supporting deeper roots. It can also be used when establishing a new lawn from fall seeding or sodding, providing nutrients during a period when cooler air temperatures and warm soil encourage strong root development. The manufacturer recommends applying it from late August through early November, depending on conditions.

Application Instructions:

When to Apply: Apply in fall, generally from late August through early November, when air temperatures are at least 50°F.
Application Rate: Apply at a rate of 3 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.
How to Apply: Use a lawn spreader and follow the recommended spreader setting on the product packaging. Apply uniformly to the lawn, overlapping passes slightly to prevent untreated strips.
Lawn Condition: Apply to a dry lawn, ideally a day or two after mowing.
Fall Seeding: Can be applied the same day as fall grass seed or sod.
Damaged Lawns: For lawns recovering from summer stress, apply in early fall and repeat approximately six weeks later.
After Application: Water the lawn after application to move nutrients into the root zone and activate the feeding process.
Re-entry: People and pets can return to the lawn once the grass has dried after watering.
Weather: Do not apply if heavy rain is expected. Keep fertilizer away from water, storm drains, and drainage ditches. Sweep any granules that land on driveways, sidewalks, or other hard surfaces back onto the lawn.
Storage: Store unused fertilizer in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, moisture, food, feed, children, and pets.

Benefits:

  • Provides a balanced fall feeding with a 10-0-20 fertilizer analysis.
  • High potassium supports deeper root development and helps prepare lawns for winter.
  • Nitrogen helps lawns recover from summer stress and damage while encouraging thicker, greener growth.
  • Helps promote winter disease prevention and earlier spring green-up.
  • Feeds for up to 2 months, reducing the need for frequent applications.
  • Suitable for all grass types.
  • Can be used when fall seeding or sodding, making it useful for establishing new lawns.
  • Contains iron to support rich green lawn color.

Winter Survival can also help lawns recover after a difficult summer, particularly when grass has experienced heat, dryness, or other seasonal stress. For damaged lawns, a second application approximately six weeks after the first can provide additional feeding for a thicker, greener lawn. The product contains 25% slow-release nitrogen, allowing it to feed the lawn over an extended period, while its potassium content supports the deep-root development that is important going into winter.
