Fantastic Avocado
Persea americana 'Fantastic'Fantastic Avocado is a cold-hardy fruit tree prized for its rich, creamy avocados, glossy green foliage, and compact growth habit. One of the more cold-tolerant avocado cultivars, it produces medium-sized fruit with smooth, thin green skin and buttery flesh that’s perfect for guacamole, sandwiches, salads, and fresh eating. Its attractive appearance and edible harvest make it an excellent choice for patios, greenhouses, and sunny indoor spaces.
Throughout the year, Fantastic Avocado provides year-round ornamental appeal with its dense canopy of glossy evergreen leaves. Clusters of small greenish-yellow flowers appear in spring and are followed by flavorful fruit that matures over several months. Its lush tropical appearance makes it just as attractive as it is a productive fruit tree.
Typically growing 10 to 15 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide in containers with pruning, Fantastic Avocado is well-suited for containers, where it can be protected during freezing weather. It thrives in warm, sunny conditions and rewards proper care with vigorous growth and reliable fruit production.
This avocado tree performs best in full sun and well-drained potting soil. Water deeply when the top few inches of soil become dry, and fertilize regularly during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer formulated for fruit trees. For the best fruit production, pair it with a complementary Type A or Type B avocado cultivar when possible.
