Is Abelia a native shrub? Mine is a pollinator magnet, plus it’s lovely most of the year, first with multi-hued foliage in later spring then tons of small pinkish flowers.
Pollinators love Abelia, but unfortunately, it is not native.

If the bud is damaged by a late cold snap and the buds are damaged will delay the buddying process and when finally breaks buds will the new leaves be deformed ?
The buds that are already out may get damaged, but new buds should continue to grow that should not be affected.
Thank you for this information. I am new at this. And I learned a lot from this store.
Hi, my mom’s been really into gardening lately and she’s planning a big landscaping project in our backyard. She’s looking for a bark mulch supplier because she wants to add a layer of mulch to her flower beds to help retain moisture and keep weeds at bay. I hope she knows how to take into account the following aspects when selecting mulch for your garden: price, availability, simplicity of application, and mulch appearance. As you said, dense enough to prevent weed development, yet loose and light enough to let air and water into the soil, is the perfect mulch.
Great advice!
It’s excellent that you went into detail about how the landscaper would evaluate any drainage problems you might have and offer advice on how to move water from your downspouts and ensure that it doesn’t leak into your foundation, along with a plan for repairing any low spots. To address any problems, the design can be modified to include French drains, dry river beds, and other strategies. I need to make architectural changes to my commercial property to draw in tenants and increase available space. I appreciate you providing these useful suggestions; I’ll bear them in mind while I search for the top landscaping firms in my region.
This is so Awsome to know,I have learned a lot & I’m looking forward to watch my plants grow when spring begins Thank You so much!!!
Thank you for posting this content! It’s really useful and covers all the information I was seeking when I came across it.
Great container ideas with conifers.
I am sending this blog to my husband. Great gift ideas for gardening obsessed people like me!
Your guide on soil testing is a treasure trove for gardeners! The step-by-step instructions and emphasis on understanding soil conditions make it an essential read. Excited to apply these insights in my garden. Thanks for sharing!
Good article about invasive plants. (I still love my butterfly bushes, but I know why they have been added to the list.) Thank you for stocking many native plants and helping to highlight their importance.
“Wow, 2021 is truly the year of houseplants! It’s like our homes have turned into lush, green jungles, and I’m loving every leafy moment of it. 🌿😍
Great insight here, I use a lot of these techniques myself! 🙂 Todd
It’s so cute that my mom has been into gardening lately. I think this is a good hobby and interest to adopt now that she’s retired and has lots of time on her hands. Anyway, she’s looking for a mulch delivery at the moment. I need her to know that over mulching (more than 3 inches) can bury and smother plants because the roots are cut off from water and oxygen. She will be happy to know how two to three inches of mulch is plenty. Thanks for this.
That is so great that your mom is into gardening! We are always happy to help with any tips needed (:
I love the idea of installing a water feature. It can make the outdoor space feel more like a resort and create a fun environment for the whole family. While I also believe that installing a swimming pool can be a great idea for those willing to invest more, the concern often arises regarding maintenance. However, it’s worth noting that saltwater pools offer a great solution in this regard. These pools use a salt chlorine generator to produce chlorine from the salt already in the water. This means you won’t have to deal with the hassle of manually handling and adding chlorine, which is often a routine task in traditional pools.
Would you have Tiarella cordifolia and Eupatorium coelestinum available for fall planting?
We have Tiarella cordifolia oakleaf and Eupatorium coelestinum available
I finally have a patio area constructed on my residential property in Los Angeles, so I was thinking of working on the hardscaping of my backyard next to give my patio a good garden view. It was quite helpful when you recommended that we use rocks to cover up neglected yard space since we can use this to create a captivating rock garden design instead if we don’t have ample time to take care of a grass lawn. I’ll be sure to bear this in mind while I look for a gravel supplier working in LA to hire for my garden project soon.
Thanks for the warning that you must exercise caution while mulching your garden since, if done incorrectly, mulch may potentially be damaging. You explained how over-mulching (more than 3 inches) may bury and smother plants, preventing water and oxygen from reaching the roots, and harming your garden. This may be the reason behind my aunt wanting to hire a professional for mulching her yard before her huge landscape renovation project.
HAPPY
Do you still have vendor space for the craft fair?
Unfortunately, our deadline for our vendor sign-up form was September 1st. All of our vendor spots are full at this time, but we hope you consider us for next year!
If there’s one thing I love in my house: it’s my luscious lawn. I really think it’s the perfect addition to our property so I’m keen on hiring a grass service that’ll help me maintain it. Thanks for talking about how if your property has an automated sprinkler system, watering in the rain is a simple error to make. Instead, you said to keep your watering schedule flexible. Thanks again for this.
Looking for dwarf pecan trees, do u have any ?
We do not have any currently, but we may have them in the spring!
It caught my attention when you told us that we should start our fall lawn care with two rounds of fertilizing at the end of September if we want to successfully maintain our lawn in the fall and expect it to be unbeatably healthy once spring comes. I have a house in Boca Raton that I just moved into recently, so I wanted to get some work done on my front lawn since it looks quite barren and ugly in contrast with my beautiful new house. I’ll keep this in mind while I look for a landscaping company in Boca Raton to hire for lawn maintenance soon.
Last month, I moved into a new home with the biggest yard that homes some of the best oak trees I have seen in my entire life. I want to have it maintained so I feel like hiring a tree pruning service. As you said here, selectively removing branches from your trees and shrubs is the procedure of pruning. In order to optimize the structure of your plant and promote new, you even explained that healthy development removes any waning or congested branches. Thanks.
Your article on creating outdoor living spaces is truly inspiring! The tips you’ve shared, from selecting the right furniture to incorporating plants, offer a comprehensive guide to designing a beautiful and functional outdoor area. Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it!
I’ve always enjoyed looking at rock gardens like those in Japan, and now that my new house has a wide backyard, I was thinking of setting one up here soon. It’s great that you brought up how gravel gardens are a good idea if we want to place a ground cover for our neglected yard space but do not have enough time to take care of a grass lawn ourselves. I’ll be sure to keep this in mind and contact a gravel supplier for the rocks I’ll be needing for my gravel garden at home soon.
thank you for making this article very useful and keep up the good work
Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it!

Your tips on protecting pavement with fire blocks and knowing the location of utility lines are crucial. I also appreciated the step-by-step instructions for both above-ground and in-ground fire pit construction. The maintenance tips, such as scooping out ashes and using seasoned wood, will help readers keep their fire pits in good condition. Overall, a comprehensive and helpful guide for anyone looking to create a cozy outdoor gathering space. Keep up the great work!

When will your Canna plants be in
Our Canna Lilies just came in!
Do you ship your plants to NJ?
We do not currently ship any plants, only mulch, however, our sister company Garden Goods Direct does ship to NJ.
Research is a good thing in every major step you want to take. Your blog did a good job indicating some of the things we should be on the lookout for when taking care of trees overall. I will use the things I learned here for an easier life when deciding what to do next time. You answered some important questions for me. Thanks!
Thank you! We are glad that you found this blog helpful.
Great tips! I really loved reading this blog! Very useful and eye-opening tips. Thanks for writing this down and sharing it! I am gonna write these tips down and use them when the time comes. Thanks!

I needed the info about wood chips. Thanks. We have lots of pine needles. I find they break down really well if I shred them first.
I was looking for clean air plants, looks like this is right choice. thanks
Excellent article outlining the advantages of expert landscape design. I like how the design can increase the property value of our home by boosting the curb appeal. This makes perfect sense since they help to define and beautify the house. To develop landscapes at home, I will undoubtedly hire a landscaper. Thank you for the information!
We are glad you found this information helpful!
Excellent write up…. 👍
I appreciate that you mention that a landscape plan should address light conditions, wind direction, drainage problems and how the homeowner plans to use the different yard areas. I like the idea that landscaping is one of the few investments guaranteed to raise the property value of your home. Trees and shrubs only increase in value as they mature, and a well-landscaped home will sell for more and faster than similar properties in the area.
Thank you!
It’s astonishing how landscaping is one of the few investments that will increase your home’s property worth without fail. We recently purchased a new home, and my wife and I want to employ a landscaping company to help us design our outdoor area. We would need to consult a specialist who could work with us to create a stunning garden. I appreciate the article.
This is a great post! Very informative. I’d never heard of a moonlight garden but now I want one!
Your newsletters are wonderfully informative, look forward to receiving them.
Thanks much!
Thank you!
Superb information given really helpful blog keep posting more.
This information wS most helpful for a beginner Gardner, like me.
Great Blog! You have shared very useful information. Keep sharing such blogs in the future too. Thanks
Thank you for sharing this informative article about retaining walls. I hope there’s a lot of people could read this in the future.
This is an informative post. Got a lot of info and details from here. Thank you for sharing this and looking forward to reading more of your post.
conduct proper hot desking table
Thank you recommending the use native plants – something that every homeowner can do. Creating a new garden where there was previously turf grass is a win for the Bay and all of the birds and pollinators that live in the watershed. Non-native plants have little to no benefit while native plants support all kinds of life!
Wow, that’s great! Thanks for letting us know that expert landscape designers would always try their best to get all the relevant tasks done within the designated budget. My next door neighbor has been thinking of beautifying his backyard by planting a few short shrubs. I think it might be smart for him to hire professionals to help make sure everything gets planted and grows correctly.
The best part of your blog for me is when you said that landscaping could raise the value of your property and improve its curb appeal. My husband and I will take note of this because we are planning to sell our house later this year, and we want to easily find a potential buyer. Maybe, it will be best for us to hire a landscape designer within the week.
Hi, I find reading this article a joy. It is extremely helpful and interesting and very much looking forward to reading more of your work.
Hello. Great article! Do you offer rain barrel workshops (sessions that offer information while making a rain barrel)? I think it would be super popular and would be a great way to get out the need for more rain barrels in Bowie and surrounding towns. Hope you consider this suggestion.
hello! we do not have any rain barrel workshops planned yet but it’s a great idea!
Do you have delivery options to Calvert county (Huntingtown Maryland 20639) for bulk concrete sand? About 5 cubic yards
Phone is XXX-XXX-XXXX
Hi Dean! Yes, we do have delivery options to your area! I’ve sent your information to customer service so they can reach out to you.
Vego Garden has really cute modular metal garden beds made of Zinc, aluminum, and magnesium. They Come in 4-5 colors and can be built into a number of shapes. They add a very modern look to ones garden.
Very thankful for these resources, they seem like they will really help with what I need to get done. Thank you very much for the post!
It was really helpful when you mentioned that it is a good idea to remove weeds that are growing near your trees. I would imagine that there are landscaping companies that have plant sprays that can prevent weeds from growing. If the weeds aren’t growing, you won’t have to worry about pulling them out.
True! But, we would caution anyone to select weed killing sprays very carefully if at all: those chemicals could harm the young tree if not applied correctly. Mulch or landscaping fabric are great ways to prevent weeds without chemical sprays.
Its amazing when you said that landscaping is one of the few investments that is guaranteed to raise the property value of your home. My wife and I recently bought a new house and we want to hire a landscaping service who can help us design our outdoor space. We would need to speak to a professional who can help us design our backyard beautifully. Thanks for the article!
Thanks for helping me to know about mulch more.
Thank you for the info on snow and it’s benefit’s, it was very helpful.
Thank you for pointing out that hiring a professional landscape designer can improve the curb appeal of your prpop[erty. I want my new home to look beautiful, so I’m considering hiring a landscape designer soon. I’m going to look for a good provider of landscape design services in my area that I can hire.

Great. Thanks for sharing this tree care article. Check out more from Tree Service Charlottesville.
Helpful info, thanks for sharing!
It’s good to have a professional landscape design as it can help you to achieve the design that you want.
I didn’t know that mulching can reduce overall weed growth in a yard. I’ve been thinking of planting some herbs in my garden but I don’t know if I would have the time to maintain it. I hope I can find a mulching service soon to help me with this despite my busy schedule.
Great Content! You have explained everything very nicely, thanks for sharing this blog, i think so this will help in searching a good landscape designer.
Thanks for detailing the benefits of professional landscape design. I like that you said that it can help improve your curb appeal. I would like that for my home, so I will have to find professionals to help me with my landscape design.
Great information — thanks for sharing it. You can really tell when a home has been professionally landscaped according to a landscape designers plan. It makes sense and flows from one element to another.
Thanks for informing me that mulching can help reduce the number of weeds on your property. My uncle asked me to manage the woodlands within his estate while he is away on a vacation. I don’t know much about it so I think it might be best if I just hire a professional who can help me with timber management.
Nice Article
The information that is given about the
mulch is very helpful. I never considered
the nutrition from it being useful to the
soil. I did know about the protection it
gives during the various seasons. I love
gardening and these tips are very helpful.
I enjoy coming to Patuxent for my plants
and flowers. The staff is always very helpful. I appreciate the helpful information given in this article.
I would like to order a physical gift care as a Christmas present and have the care mailed to me
Hello Monica,
We can certainly mail you your physical gift for you.
Very good information. It sounds like it’s worth the effort to search for a good landscape designer.
Thanks for mentioning how a landscape designer can help choose plants that will look the best and thrive in your yard. I want to find a landscape designer that can help me determine which plants can survive where we live since I want to build out my garden this year. I’ll have to get in contact with a professional about helping me build out my yard in the coming month.
Very good information, I thought I was an expert on Landscape design, but I got some further tips in this article. Thanks.!!
Your Bowie location is too far away. Are there any participating nurseries close to Westminster? We have 7 acres and are slowly planting trees as we remove rotting, sick and downed trees on the 4 acres that is wooded.
Would certainly like to participate in your program.
Hi Liz, this program is actually run through the City of Bowie. Maybe you could check with the City of Westminster.
There is a rebate run with the state of MD that we participate in. Follow this link to see if any garden enters near you participate.
Hope this helps!
I love all of this information very single one of them is practical .
Thank you for your tip to remember to consider the specific codes and fire laws when you’re building a fire pit. My brother is working on building a patio and I want to help by getting him a fire pit table. I’ll be sure to double-check that getting one of those is allowed in his area.
You mentioned that landscaping is guaranteed to raise the value of your property. I have been looking for ways to make my home more appealing. It would be nice to have a professional come landscape because then my yard would feel more exciting.
Honestly, I wasn’t planning on hiring a landscaper. However, after you talked about how a professional will know what plants are best for you property, I change my mind. It sounds like it’s worth the effort to search for a good landscape designer.
The best part of your article for me is when you talked about how landscaping can give you a guarantee of a higher property value of your home. My mother is looking to sell her house by the end of the year. It’s important for her to prepare her house so she can sell it fast at a good rate. At the moment she’s looking for some tips on how she can raise the resale value of her house, so I will make sure to share your blog with her. Thanks!
Good thing you mentioned spraying your wooden furniture with a simple spraying solution or recommended detergent soap will do wonders for them. I’ve been planning to clean my wooden chairs and tables on my patio, but have no idea which type of cleaner to use. I like that you mentioned an all-natural cleaner is perfect for cleaning this type of furniture. I will definitely take heed of your advice when I do my regular household cleaning this coming weekend. Thanks.
Thanks for the post. It’s good to know that these indoor plants have their benefits.I liked that you mentioned that Palm trees are good at removing indoor air pollutants. I’ve been thinking of placing indoor office plants placed in my office and your blog is a good reference.
That’s some great info on caring for outdoor furniture. I had no idea that you could throw those outdoor cushions in the washer. With my girls toddling around cushions tend to get sticky. Next time I clean them I’ll make sure to just throw them in the washer.
I found it interesting when you mentioned that plants are one of the last things to consider when it comes to landscaping. My husband and I just moved into a new house, and we want to make some changes to the yard, but I was mostly thinking in terms of what plants go where. Maybe it would be best to leave the design to a professional so they consider things in the right order of importance.
Sanseveria is the best. These plants tolerate neglect and poor light. But, give them half a chance and they are performers. I put mine out on the patio for summer and they love it–a little morning sun and warm temps. In winter they go dormant and decorate my living room window.
Recently, my husband and I moved into a new home. We are thinking of redoing the landscape, but we want to make sure that the design is unique and functional for our family. As you mentioned, by hiring a landscape designer, they will be able to increase the value of your home and curb appeal. Thanks for sharing!
It’s interesting to know that landscaping can raise the value of a property. My husband and I have been thinking about improving some of our yard work, we’re just not sure when we’ll be able to. I’ll have to get in contact with a professional about helping us out within the next few weeks.
I want to make sure that I get my landscape designed properly. It seems like hiring a professional can be really beneficial! It would be a lot of help to have someone who can help me plan everything out.
I would love to have a nice wildflower garden. It’s nice to know that it’s not to hard to manage! I’ll make sure that I get plenty of wildflower seeds to use.
The article brings up some very good suggestions about plant selection for your landscaping project. After all, not every plant can survive in any given environment that they find themselves in. Before you buy any plants for the project you want to talk to your landscaping contractor about whether or not the plant in question can even survive in your local area.
These are great tips! Don’t forget to maintain your concrete patio and check for cracks in the spring too!
It is good to know that a homeowner typically only things of plants when planning landscaping. Working with someone who can address light conditions and wind direction would be very helpful. Before hiring, it would be good to ensure the professional is familiar with the plants that grow best in your climate.
My husband and I are in the process of building our dream home, and the next step is to design the landscaping. We have been trying to decide the different materials we want to use, so I appreciate this information about mulch. I like how you point out that mulch helps increase soil nutrition as it decomposes, which provides better drainage and better use of the nutrients within the mulch itself. Something that is very important to my husband and I is getting the most out of everything we spend our money on, and it sounds like mulch really is a material that would help us accomplish that in our yard. Thanks again for the information!
I wish I had known that different furniture was better for outdoor use than others. This year I’ll make sure that I get some that are made of plastic and wood! That way I won’t have to worry about water damage or anything like that.
I learned a lot about professional landscape design services by reading this article. It was cool to learn that landscape services can help to improve the curb appeal of a home. I can imagine how helpful these services can be when it comes to making your home more attractive to buyers when selling a home.
I’m so glad you talked about the things that homeowner’s don’t consider when planning out landscape design, like how their yard drains water. I never thought of that, but I’m sure it’s a really important part to take into consideration when you are modifying the look of your yard. We are looking to hire a landscaper to help make our yard look nice, and I guess utilizing a professional’s services is more important than I thought it was! We’ll have to hire a really good contractor who can help us out.
I live in Suitland Md. and I want to plant a golden rain tree. Is this a good area for such and do you sell them? Please let me know if I can purchase a rain tree from your nursey and when is the best time to plant it. thanks
It was cool to learn about the benefits of professional landscape design by reading this article. I like how you explained that professional landscaping services can help to improve the curb appeal of your home. I can imagine how helpful landscape professionals can be since they are highly trained and have the right supplies for a landscaping project.
Great post! I learned a lot about the benefits of seasonal clean up for my yard by reading this article. I really like how you explained that “Trimming back shrubs helps maintain a tidy appearance throughout the season and often helps flowering shrubs bloom more profusely.” My parents have their lawn maintenanced regularly by professionals and they have said that it has helped them to keep a good, clean, professional look.
