Spirea 'Candy Corn'
Double Play Candy Corn Spirea, Spiraea Japonica Double Play Candy CornSpirea ‘Candy Corn’ is a compact, deciduous shrub celebrated for its mesmerizing foliage that unwraps like the classic candy it’s named after. Spring growth bursts forth in candy-apple red, evolves to vivid pineapple yellow, and then shows bright orange new growth throughout summer, creating a constantly shifting, warm-toned palette. Late spring to early summer brings clusters of deep purple flowers that stand out strikingly against the multicolored foliage.
Mature plants reach a tidy 18–24 inches tall and 18–30 inches wide, forming a neat, rounded mound. Its versatile size and shape make it ideal for border fronts, low hedges, containers, or a vibrant accent in mixed beds.
In addition to its seasonal interest, ‘Candy Corn’ attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, is deer and rabbit-resistant, and drought-tolerant once established, and thrives in a wide range of garden conditions.
