Spirea 'Bridal Wreath'
Spirea ‘Bridal Wreath’ is a graceful, deciduous shrub known for its masses of cascading double-white flowers that cover arching branches in mid- to late spring—resembling a bridal wreath. Typically growing 5–8 ft tall with a 7–10 ft spread, its fountain-like form and fine-textured foliage bring elegance to borders, hedges, or as a specimen plant.
Foliage is dark blue-green in summer and may take on orange-red or purple tones in autumn under full sun. This shrub is a spring highlight and maintains ornamental interest through foliage and fall color. It’s also deer- and drought-tolerant once established and widely adaptable to various soil types and light exposures.
Planting: Plant in full sun for best flowering; tolerates light shade. Choose well-drained soil, spacing shrubs 6–10 ft apart to allow their wide, arching habit.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment; once mature, water needs are moderate and spirea tolerates summer dryness.
Pruning: Prune right after flowering in late spring—remove one-third of oldest stems to maintain form and encourage blooms next year.
Pest & Disease Control: Resilient to pests and deer; avoid overly damp conditions to reduce leaf spot and mildew. Good air circulation is key .
Soil Tips: Thrives in average, medium-moisture, well-drained soils; tolerates clay and a range of pH levels
