Hoya Pubicalyx
Silver Splash Hoya, Hoya pubicalyx ‘Splash’, Hoya pubicalyx ‘Pink Silver’Hoya Pubicalyx is a moderately fast-growing, vining indoor plant known for its elongated, lance-shaped leaves that often feature silvery splashes. Like many Hoyas, this one matures into a lush, trailing or climbing display, perfect for hanging baskets, trellises, or shelf edges. With time and care, it produces clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers in shades ranging from pale pink to deep magenta.
This vigorous Hoya thrives in bright, indirect light and adapts well to typical indoor conditions, making it a great choice for both beginners and collectors. It’s more forgiving than some of the rarer Hoya species and can tolerate moderate environmental changes without issue. Once established, it’s known to bloom prolifically, sometimes even multiple times per year.
Ideal for plant lovers who want a statement piece that requires relatively low maintenance, Hoya Pubicalyx adds texture, movement, and occasional floral displays to an indoor plant collection. Its moderately quick growth and dramatic foliage make it a favorite for training on moss poles or letting cascade from hanging pots.
Care instructions
Light Requirements: Prefers bright, indirect light for best growth and flower production; tolerates some morning sun but avoid harsh afternoon rays.
Soil Needs: Requires a chunky, well-draining potting mix; an aroid mix with orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir is ideal.
Watering: Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry; reduce watering frequency in cooler months and avoid soggy conditions.
Humidity: Tolerates average household humidity but benefits from slightly elevated levels, especially in dry indoor air.
Fertilizing: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength.
Pruning: Prune lightly to control shape and remove any dead or yellowing foliage; do not remove the peduncles (flower spurs), as blooms reappear from them.
Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when roots fill the container; refresh soil to encourage continued vigorous growth.
Please note: This plant comes in its grower’s nursery pot, ready for you to place in your favorite decorative pot at home. The pot in the picture is not included.
