Care Instructions Encore® Autumn Bonfire®
- Planting: Choose a location with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and as deep as the root ball’s height. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly after planting.
- Sunlight: Provide 4–6 hours of direct sunlight or high-filtered shade for optimal blooming.
- Watering: Water regularly during the first year to establish roots. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from consistent moisture.
- Fertilizing: Apply a slow-release, acid-forming fertilizer after the spring bloom and again in summer. Avoid fertilizing after August to allow the plant to prepare for winter.
- Pruning: Prune immediately after the spring bloom if shaping is needed. Avoid heavy pruning, as it may reduce the number of blooms in the next cycle.
- Mulching: Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
