Agastache 'Mandarin'
Agastache ‘Mandarin’ is a compact, perennial known for its radiant orange flower spires and fragrant foliage. Blooming continuously from early summer into fall, the vibrant tubular blossoms are a magnet for hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. Its low, mounded form, growing about 17–24 inches tall and wide, makes it an ideal addition to borders, containers, and pollinator gardens.
When crushed, the aromatic, dark-green leaves release a sweet minty-licorice fragrance, adding sensory appeal to its visual charm. Bred in the KUDOS™ series for improved cold hardiness, mildew resistance, and neat growth habit, ‘Mandarin’ offers reliable performance in USDA zones 5–10 and even tougher climates.
Planting: Place in full sun (part shade acceptable in hot climates) with well-drained soil. Space plants 12–18 inches apart to allow for mounding
Watering: Water regularly during the first season; once established, it thrives with moderate to low moisture and tolerates drought
Pruning: Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. In spring, trim back old growth to promote new vigor
Pest & Disease: Generally pest-free and deer/rabbit-resistant. Occasionally prone to powdery mildew; ensure airflow for best results
Soil Tips: Tolerates a broad range of soils from sandy to clay if well-drained. Prefers neutral to slightly acidic pH
